US futures markets were generally flat to higher. Wheat futures found support from the rain over the weekend. The HRW belt in particular needs a hot dry spell to bring the crop in and it simply isn’t happening. The N.D Wheat Commission will put out their weekly crop report tomorrow which should give us a better idea on how the US spring wheat and durum crop is progressing.

The weather forecast for the US and Canada shows continued showers across the corn and soybean belt and also across the spring wheat and durum areas for the week ahead. There could also be some heavy falls across the US corn belt so we should continue to see support if the planting progress report is lagging, due out this evening, but remember rain makes grain.
The US 30day rainfall map does paint the picture nicely though. http://www.worldagweather.com/#region=us&time=past&vrbl=pcp&nday=30

Saudi Arabia picked up 1.5mt of optional origin feed barley for July – August delivery. All the majors seemed to have a share in it with the price landed the Red Sea and Persian Gulf pencilled in at US$168 – US$184 / tonne, much equivalent values here at present.
