US markets closed lower on Friday, not a huge slip but soybeans and corn did manage a week on week gain. Soft wheat at Chicago slipped almost 8c/bu or just under $4/t in our money week on week. Kansas wheat was the worst hit on a week on week basis though and shed closer to $6/t while Minneapolis actually closed higher for the week by about $3.60/t.
There wasn’t a lot to drive the wheat markets other than more talk of disease in the spring wheat crops in the US and Canada and some more feedback from the recent frost events in WA.
This week we see the USDA put out their monthly World Ag Supply and Demand report on Wednesday. No one is expecting any big surprises but the market is unlikely to be very active prior to its announcement, so potentially a slow week ahead.

Mung beans are starting to flow more freely into the Indian market place and prices slipped a little week on week there but did manage to stay unchanged here. Chickpea bids in India did improve as supply is getting tight. Sowing is taking place in India now so over the next 30-60 days we should have a good idea of chickpea area there. Recent reports suggest a big increase in area but the Aussie crop was supposed to fill the void between now and when they harvest in April / May. This is starting to look less likely but early harvest in CQLD may see some Aussie peas cap the concern in the short term.
