The warmer weather in Canada has helped some producers complete harvest while it has hurt others as they can no longer get onto their country until the ground freezes up enough to take machinery. There are a couple of reports due out of Canada this week which should reveal exactly how much of their crop is still in the field. At Chicago soybean futures were lower overnight, the first loss for a while, ICE canola futures were quick to follow while across the Atlantic at Paris rapeseed futures actually climbed a little in overnight trade, one guess where local buyers here will get their direction from.

Both soft and hard wheat futures continued to fall in the USA overnight. A quick look at the SRW chart shows the extent of the decline and just how oversold SR wheat is at present. Volume at the exchange was also lower thus exacerbating the decline. Some of the technical punters are expecting to see a correction in the short term. Fundamentally the world is awash with wheat, just the way it was last week and the week before and the month before, not much has changed fundamentally.
Bids for durum wheat across central Saskatchewan took a hit yesterday, about the same sized hit as our local values here. Prices slipped by around C$18.00 / tonne and just like our markets here the decline is not readily explained apart from Aussie grain hitting the market.
