The Indian government has asked local and international traders to refrain from buying local wheat stocks from farmers until the government has purchased their demands from the farmer. The Indian gov is keen to increase their reserves after stocks fell last year. India banned wheat exports last year after dry weather reduced quantity. This year is currently projected to be a new record, so stocks should be replenished. India, like China, tend to predict big wheat crops often only to then become importers. Looking at World Ag Weather and the 90 day rainfall for India, it was a little drier than average.
